How much does a website chatbot cost in 2026?

Last updated: July 2026 · approx. 4 min read
In short

A website AI chatbot is typically a monthly subscription service. With the Echo Chatbot, the entry package is $149 per month (taxes not included) with 500 conversations, Pro is $299 with 1,500, and Business is $499 with unlimited inbound conversations. Over the allowance nothing is cut off: the extra is $0.45 / conversation. The setup fee is $0 with a 12-month contract, and $249 on the monthly plan.

Website chatbot pricing is often opaque: some providers bill per message or per conversation, and the total only becomes clear at the end of the month. This article shows what makes up a chatbot's price, and lays out the Echo Chatbot's full price list.

What makes up the price?

Echo Chatbot monthly fees

PackageMonthly feeConversations / moOver the allowance
Starter$149/mo500$0.45 / conversation
Pro$299/mo1,500$0.45 / conversation
Business$499/mounlimitedno allowance to go over

Going over the allowance never cuts a conversation off: it runs to the end and the extra is billed at $0.45 / conversation. The plans are priced so that stepping up is always the better deal: from about 850 conversations a month Pro costs less than Starter with overage. All prices in USD, taxes not included.

What's the difference between the packages?

Appointment booking, lead capture, and the email alert are in every plan, including Starter. The same table, plan by plan, is on the Pricing page.

The setup fee

The Echo Chatbot setup fee is $249 (taxes not included). You can choose between two routes: with a 12-month contract, setup is $0; on the monthly, cancel-anytime plan, the full amount is payable, in one go or in 3 installments, with no surcharge. Setup includes building the knowledge base and embedding the widget on your website, which takes a single script tag.

What does the chatbot do for that price?

Chatbot or phone assistant?

The chatbot answers in writing on your website, the voice agent picks up the phone. Many businesses need both, and the two together cost less than separately: the combo covers call answering and website chat in one fee. If you'd start with just one, the chatbot is the smallest entry point of the two channels.

What happens if I run out of my conversation allowance?

Nothing gets cut off mid-sentence. The conversation runs to the end, and conversations over the allowance are billed at $0.45 / conversation. If that happens month after month, the next plan up is the cheaper answer, and we'll tell you so: at 1,500 conversations Starter plus overage already costs what Pro costs. On Business there's no allowance to run out of.

Is it hard to embed in my website?

No. The chatbot goes on your website with a single script tag, and we handle the embedding during onboarding. No developer needed.

What's the difference between the Starter and Business packages?

Starter is the website widget with 500 conversations a month, your website plus 25 Q&A as the knowledge base, and standard support. Business has no conversation cap, answers on WhatsApp and Google Business too, takes an unlimited number of knowledge sources, adds handoff rules and workflow triggers to the CRM, and comes with dedicated support under an SLA.
